i absolutely hate Ramona. I think a huge part of hating Ramona came from knowing a girl who intentionally aspired to be like Ramona Flowers because she thought it was cool and mysterious. She was rather good at playing the part and being neither more distasteful than Ramona nor less. basically, I had to deal with a ramona first hand. Scott spend the whole movie trying to be perfect for her, fighting for her, and thinking about her, while she seems completely indifferent towards him and doesn’t really give a shit if he stays or goes because she’ll just find someone else to hook up with.

Superhero comics have always been – and always will be – low culture. They exist for their visual and visceral appeal. A movie based on comics is that same energy ported into a different medium. Expecting them to be anything other than what they are – popcorn films and picture books – is missing the point.

Irony: Most of the same individuals who complained about Seth MacFarlane’s sexist diatribes are also writing about “Oscar fashion disasters.”
